Urea was synthesized in the body at a rate of 18.4 g N/d from 2.0 g N/d of ammonia absorbed through the rumen wall and 16.4 g N/d apparently arising from deaniination of amino acids and ammonia absorbed from the lower digestive tract. 7. In the 24 h after intraruminal injection of [15N]ammonium salt, 40-50 % of the N entering the plasma urea pool arose from ruminal ammonia; 26% of the 15N injected was excreted in urinary N. 8. Although 5-1 g N/d as urea was degraded apparently in the digestive tract, only 1.2 g N/d appeared in ruminal ammonia; it is suggested that the remainder may have been degraded in the lower digestive tract. 9. A large proportion of the urea N entering the digestive tract is apparently degraded and absorbed and the ammonia incorporated in the pools of nitrogenous compounds that turn over only slowly. This may be a mechanism for the continuous supply to the liver of ammonia for these syntheses. 10. There was incorporation of 15N into bacterial fractions isolated from rumen contents after intraruminal and intravenous administration of [15N]ammonium salts and [l5N]urea respectively. 11. A model for N pathways in sheep is proposed and, for this diet, many of the pool sizes and turn-over rates have been either deduced or estimated directly.]]> Tue 19 Jun 2018 09:26:05 EST ]]> Metabolism of urea in late pregnancy and the possible contribution of amino acid carbon to glucose synthesis in sheep Tue 19 Jun 2018 09:26:04 EST ]]> The roles of energy- or protein-rich supplements in the subtropics for young cattle consuming basal diets that are low in digestible energy and protein Tue 19 Jun 2018 09:26:04 EST ]]> The effects of protozoa and of supplementation with nitrogen and sulfur on digestion and microbial metabolism in the rumen of sheep Tue 19 Jun 2018 09:19:04 EST ]]> Open Adoptions of Children from Foster Care in New South Wales Australia: Adoption Process and Post-Adoption Contact Thu 21 Jun 2018 19:46:05 EST ]]> Teacher perceptions of curriculum change in the bilingual reform programs in government schools in the United Arab Emirates: an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis Thu 21 Jun 2018 19:25:06 EST ]]> Is afternoon cortisol more reliable than waking cortisol in association studies of children with an ASD? When data from only exercise studies were pooled, there was a reduction in fasting free fatty acids (FFAs) −74.15 μmol/ L (95% CI -118.47 to -29.84), p=0.001, I²=67% with a large effect size (SMD) −0.94 (−1.36 to −0.52), p<0.0001, I²=0%. When data from only exercise studies were pooled, there was a significant reduction in insulin MD −1.88 UL (95% CI −3.43 to −0.34), p=0.02, I²=31%. The liver enzymes, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase, were not significantly altered with exercise. Conclusions: Exercise training reduces intrahepatic fat and FFAs while increasing cardiorespiratory fitness. An aggregate exercise programme energy expenditure (>10 000 kcal) may be required to promote reductions in intrahepatic fat.]]> Thu 21 Jun 2018 09:16:05 EST ]]> Cardiac Rehabilitation for Patients With Coronary Artery Disease: A Practical Guide to Enhance Patient Outcomes Through Continuity of Care Thu 21 Jun 2018 09:16:05 EST ]]> Fisheries-independent surveys identify critical habitats for young scalloped hammerhead sharks (Sphyrna lewini) in the Rewa Delta, Fiji Thu 21 Jun 2018 09:09:05 EST ]]> Taking Stock: Identifying the Growing Agricultural Service Sector in Australia Thu 21 Jun 2018 09:09:05 EST ]]> Simion Mehedinţi's Contribution to Modern Romanian Geography Thu 21 Jun 2018 09:02:07 EST ]]> Oil and Iron Ore Price Shocks: What are the Different Economic Effects in Australia? There was a weaning X supplementation X age interaction (P < 0.03) with unsupplemented-weaned lambs developing a higher faecal egg count than supplemented-weaned lambs. There was also a significant (P < 0.02) sex X weaning X age interaction with weaned-female lambs having a higher faecal egg count than weaned-castrate lambs; egg counts increased more rapidly in unweaned-female lambs than in weaned-female lambs.
